Bug Description

I am running Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS on a System76 Galago Pro laptop with the Intel wifi device in the title. From dmeg:

iwlwifi 0000:00:14.3: Detected Intel(R) Wireless-AC 9560 160MHz, REV=0x354

The problem is that the wifi connection to a 5 GHz network periodically drops. The dmesg warnings say that the connection to my access point (48:5d:36:67:ee:3c in the logs I am about to paste) has been lost. The problematic wifi connection has ESSID 'boomerang'.

You'll see a single instance of a lost connection in this dmesg, but note that power management is off: I ran

sudo iw wlp0s20f3 set power_save off

once at the beginning of this session.

These disconnects used to happen much more frequently and in clusters with power management on. I cannot be sure this is what's doing it though: the clusters would happen sporadically and seemingly randomly. I could not discern a pattern to what is causing this.

I am pasting the complete output (minus the apt-get update/install part) of the long troubleshooting command at

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WirelessTroubleshootingProcedure

# This is a dynamic resolv.conf file for connecting local clients to the
# internal DNS stub resolver of systemd-resolved. This file lists all
# configured search domains.
#
# Run "systemd-resolve --status" to see details about the uplink DNS servers
# currently in use.
#
# Third party programs must not access this file directly, but only through the
# symlink at /etc/resolv.conf. To manage man:resolv.conf(5) in a different way,
# replace this symlink by a static file or a different symlink.

# See man:systemd-resolved.service(8) for details about the supported modes of

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1856178/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

Turning off power management did not do much at all: I am again seeing clusters of disconnects and reconnects in 'dmesg'.

Separately:

Even without disconnects, when connected to this particular SSID 'iwconfig' reports a gradually-increasing "Invalid misc" count (i.e. dropped packets).

I don't see that with other 5GHz connections: I am on one now for instance, namely my university's eduroam, and 'iwconfig' reports no "Invalid misc".

Any thoughts on what that might be about? Is it interference of some sort? Perhaps something I can mitigate by changing my home router's settings?
