Installed the following packages:

Caused some form of loop or failure to complete which did not recognize or fully complete connection.
Temporary fix was to drop back to Linux kernel 3.13.0.71.77 under advanced in Grub
Same issue for both Ubuntu Trusty 14.04.3LTS and Linux Mint17.
Expectation was for the connect to complete
affects: | wpasupplicant (Ubuntu) → linux (Ubuntu) |
The universal wireless programming may have been compromised in the updated kernel.
The problem lay somewhere in the kernel itself and the hardware recognition of the Netgear 900.
It seems to see it but act weak. Wireless panel with available connections comes up but the completion of the connection seems restricted somehow.
