Bug Description

Please see bug 877074.for oneiric information.
---------------------------------------------
Please sync workrave 1.9.4-2 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

Explanation of FeatureFreeze exception:

This package was apparently dropped since it built against the old gnome-panel. Debian now builds workrave without gnome-applet support so this is no longer an issue. Workrave has a 4.5 star rating by 12 people in Software Center so it would be nice to get it back.

Changelog since 1.9.3-2 (current Ubuntu version):

workrave (1.9.4-2) unstable; urgency=low

   * Stop building GNOME application and applet (closes: #638100, #614038)

   * Bump Standards-Version to 3.9.2
   * Add empty build-arch and build-indep target in debian/rules (lintian)

workrave (1.9.4-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream release
    - drop all Debian patches (applied upstream)

  * Update location of .xpm menu icon
  * Remove empty /usr/include directory after building
  * Remove obsolete breaks/replaces from debian/control

Requests for feature freeze exceptions must come from a MOTU or core developer, or ACKed by a sponsor. Please do not directly subscribe ~ubuntu-release until the bug has been reviewed by a developer. In addition, we have passed Beta freeze, and as such do not normally accept new packages into the archive past this point. Please see the Feature Freeze Exception process for full details: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FreezeExceptionProcess#FeatureFreeze_for_new_packages

Unsubscribing ~ubuntu-release.

Oneiric has also removed gnome-typing-monitor so AFAIK there is no alternative apart from "rsibreak" but that requires all the KDE libs.

Taking a look at this. Once it's in precise, we can track backporting to oneiric in bug 877074.

MOTU ACK, builds on amd64, not waiting for auto sync of new packages since this was requested in oneiric and needs to be in precise first to backport

You can download the deb packages for precise and install them into oneiric. This worked fine for me (amd64).

Thank you both! I just installed it from the Micah's PPA. Seems to work fine. :-) It's a 64 bit system, too.

In my Oneiric 64 (upgraded from natty), I also lost workrave - and I have a sore arm as a result of that :-(
Anyway, nothing in the official repo's, but fortunately Mica's PPA works for me. Thumbs up!

Comes back the question that gianni and daniele also asked: why was it not included in oneiric in the first place? I consider that a serious regression!

Besides, I want to stress that, for me, I use workrave because I *need* it. And I don't notice if the breaks aren't there - that's part of the reason I need it! I suspect this may be true for most users of workrave (or similar packages). Seriously, it really got me my sore arm back - which will take several weeks to fix (again).

Just updated to precise beta; and lost workrave again! I would almost start swearing here, this is so annoying!

I just added it to the unity panel whitelist, but that doesn't seem to help. (will log off and on in a minute)

OK - disabling and re-enabling unutiy plugin in ccsm and killing unity-panel-service process worked (don't like logging off unless unavoidable) - I have workrave back now.

What I don't get is why/how my unity panel whitelist got re-set? Is this a feature?
