Bug Description

Binary package hint: workrave

During a rest break, I click "lock" and workrave properly activates gnome-screensaver to lock my screen. If I move the mouse or press a key, the normal password prompt appears. I then unlock my screen by typing my password, and the screen is black except the mouse cursor, which I can move. The screen remains black until the rest break is over, and then returns to normal. I use the "blank" screen saver option. I tell workrave to block input during breaks.

Ideally, when I unlock the screen, I should see my desktop again with the rest break window in front, still blocking all input.

I don't have any other screen savers installed. I believe this is different from bug #20070 because it claims to be fixed with this version of workrave.

Other interesting bits:
- This happens no matter when I unlock (even right away), so long as it is during the rest break
- killing workrave from the console immediately fixes the problem

I'm using:
intrepid x86_64 with the latest updates
workrave 1.8.5-6
gnome-screensaver 2.24.0-0ubuntu2

I don't know the internals of any of this software, but my guess is that workrave is blocking my input, preventing the X server or screen saver from realizing it needs to draw the screen. Given that this only happens with workrave, only when workrave is blocking input, and killing workrave fixes the problem, returning me to a fully functional desktop, I would be shocked if this is an X.org problem.

I have the same issue. It's definitely a bit annoying when you have to kill workrave from the console.
