As I was trying to say... :-)

During a test-rebuild of hoary:

g++ -Os -g -DNDEBUG -g -o workrave -Lunix/ workrave-Workrave-Control-common.o
workrave-Workrave-Control-skels.o workrave-Workrave-Control-stubs.o ...
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i486-linux/3.3.5/../../../libgnomeuimm-2.0.so: undefined
reference to `Gnome::Canvas::Item::item_construct(Gnome::Canvas::Group&, ...)'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[6]: *** [workrave] Error 1

I changed the Build-Depends and it now works for me (on AMD64):

workrave (1.6.2-1ubuntu1) hoary; urgency=low

  * changed Build-depends to libgnomecanvasmm-2.6-dev, libgnomeuimm-2.6-dev

Just realised that both are in Universe.... and workrave isnt.

Should be no problem to exchange those in the seeds, workrave is the only
supported package using libgnomecanvasmm2.0 and libgnomemm2.0

libgtkmm2.0-1c102 could be removed from main as well
