2023-05-03 12:18:46 Marc Deslauriers description 22.04 ships with php 8.1, due to some mysql logging issue the installation of a new wordpress sites dies with a white screen of death if wp-admin/install.php is called. Upstream wordpress fixed the issue with: https://core.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/51582 and I can confirm that applying this patch generates the expected installation behaviour as usual with a working admin user interface. 22.04 ships with php 8.1, due to some mysql logging issue the installation of a new wordpress sites dies with a white screen of death if wp-admin/install.php is called. Upstream wordpress fixed the issue with: https://core.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/51582 and I can confirm that applying this patch generates the expected installation behaviour as usual with a working admin user interface. [Impact] The wordpress package can not be used successfully on Jammy. It is fixed in later releases. [Test Plan] apt install mysql-server apt install wordpress php-gd libapache2-mod-php ln -s /usr/share/wordpress /var/www/html/wordpress bash /usr/share/doc/wordpress/examples/setup-mysql -n wordpress localhost /etc/init.d/apache2 restart Go to http://localhost/wordpress, fill in fields to do initial setup [Where problems could occur] This small patch should allow Wordpress to run. If the patch is wrong, Wordpress would remain broken.
