Bug Description

Attempting to start Wireshark 2.0.4 obtains the following errors:

QXcBConnection: Failed to initialize XRandr
Qt: KEYBOARD extension not present on the X server.
libGL error: failed to load driver: swrast
nl80211 not found.
Segmentation fault (core dumped).

I was able to run Wireshark 1.10.1 on the same environment successfully, so the change was to replace the previous version of Wireshark with the latest release.

Hi,

This seems to be an issue in Qt/xrdp/other remote desktop program:

By installing and running wireshark-gtk you can workaround the bug, but I'm not sure what you need to do to fix running Qt applications.

Maybe you need to install the libgl1-mesa-swx11 package.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick response.

Using Wireshark-gtk does circumvent the issue.

Best regards,

Hi,

This seems to be an issue in Qt/xrdp/other remote desktop program:

As Balint noted, this is likely an issue with the Qt installation. There have been many improvements in newer Qt versions, so upgrading to Ubuntu 16.04 and newer should help.
