Wingpanel does not launch on startup

Bug Description
I installed Freya beta, updated the system via upgrade and dist upgrade but the wing panel (ie the top bar with infos on it) does not show.
If i type wingpanel in a terminal then it appears, but with some ugly icons.
On a dell latitude 6450
