Bug Description

Binary package hint: wine1.2

1) lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
Release: 10.04

2) apt-cache policy wine1.2
wine1.2:
  Installed: 1.1.42-0ubuntu4
  Candidate: 1.1.42-0ubuntu4
  Version table:
 *** 1.1.42-0ubuntu4 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/universe Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3) What I expected to happen is when I install and run iTunes 7.7.1.11 it would flawlessly install and allow downloading of iTunes Store Podcasts.

4) What happened instead is that after successfully installing and starting iTunes GUI, was in middle of downloading podcasts from iTunes Store and it just stopped downloading. In attached CLI-output.txt it seems to be correlated with Distnoted.exe failing to launch.

ProblemType: Bug

wine-1.2-rc7 install-> wine C:\\Program\ Files\\iTunes\\iTunes.exe

Distnoted.exe bricks stops working, then downloads stop downloading, and ultimately GUI bricks.

ulimit -n 10000: wine start C:\\Program\ Files\\iTunes\\iTunes.exe

I changed ulimit by editing /etc/security/limits.conf and adding 2 entries, then restarting:

name soft nofile 10000
name hard nofile 20000

I don't get the ulimit -n error but I still get spammed by window noting Distnoted.exe needs to close, which seems to cause iTunes GUI performance degradation.

In Maverick, downloaded newest WINE 1.3.4 as per http://www.winehq.org/download/deb -> downloaded iTunes 7.7.1.11 via http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php?old_itunes=33 -> installed iTunes, went to iTunes Store and subscribed to a podcast, after first successful download distnoted.exe crash GUI prompt popped up once. Subscribed to another podcast, no further distnoted.exe crashing. No noticeable GUI degradation. Seems fixed via newest WINE.
