Bug Description

Binary package hint: wine1.2

I've received many reports now about the new permissions dialog from users. It's simply too confusing and unhelpful - most think it's an error message and that Wine simply won't work with the executable they downloaded.

It needs to be changed to make it more obvious that it's not running intentionally and that the user can fix this if they wanted to run the program.

In my box wine closes silently, I don't see any dialog. But if I set executable flag to the exe wine works.

Do you mean this error?

"The file '/media/Orange Box/Setup.exe' is not marked as executable. If this was downloaded or copied form an untrusted source, it may be dangerous to run. For more details, read about the executable bit."

Note the spelling error "If this was downloaded or copied form an untrusted source" should be 'from'

Michael: I don't see any error wine just stay 20-30 secs on taskbar and then closes quiet. But if I set executable bit, wine run normaly.

Yes Michael that's the error. And not showing at all is a similarly bad problem.

Seems like a wishlist. Should be marked as such.

It's a serious problem rusivi2 as it's a regression over older Ubuntus and makes the software unusable.
