Bug Description

Some time ago I noticed that Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V, in wine programs, was not working properly. Many failures occur, even repeating Ctrl+C several times, when I give Ctrl+V the expression is not pasted to its destination, as if the clipboard was empty. It appears that Clipboard is not synchronized properly. I even thought it was a problem with my ubuntu installation that had several unofficial repositories. So I decided to do a new installation and not use any unofficial repository, installed wine from the official repository of ubuntu and it was no use. My grotesque workaround is to open gedit and use it as a bridge for copy and paste. I tried using gpaste and realized that clipboard write oscillations always occur when Ctrl+C is given in wine applications. Many times after giving Ctrl+C the expression appears in the gpast list, however, Ctrl+V fails. You need to go to the gpast listing (using gnome-shell-extension gpast) and focus on the first expression in the list for Ctrl+V to work.

Also tested Wine from 3.20 to 5.5 and confirm it happens on both. Wine 3.20 is on Ubuntu 18.04, so this can be used to verify it's fine there.

I'm on Ubuntu 20.04 and it affects me. Definately occured for me on 19.10 as well. For example when running Notepad++ I very often have to click ctrl+c more than once, in order to get it to the buffer available for pasting. Applies to ctrl+x as well.

I'm on Ubuntu 19.10. Same problem. I tried to reinstall the old version of wine (3.0-1ubuntu1) but it didn't make any diference. This is very sad...

    I'm also having this problem. Ubuntu 20.04, wine-5.0 (Ubuntu 5.0-3ubuntu1) downloaded from the
official repository, Notepad++ 7.8.6.
    Clipboard works fine a couple times after restarting notepad++, then at some point I need to copy several times, then CTRL+C doesn't seem to work anymore but right click/copy works, then clipboard stops working altogether (but it works inside notepad++).

I can confirm this behaviour with Notepad++ V7.8.7, running Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.

Very annoying, as I am an intensive user of Notepad++ - mferrari's description is perfect. I would dearly love to see this fixed, and am happy to assist/test/report.

Pete.

I have had this issue since 19.04. Never had this problem in 18.04 or 18.10.

One work-around I have found. If I go to a non-wine application, and copy something. Then back to my wine application, I can CTRL+C/CTRL+V again. But that will only work once. I then have to copy something outside of wine to again copy/paste in wine.

Same issue can be reproduced on Visual Foxpro 6.

Copy paste worked fine in Ubuntu 18.04 but after upgrade to 20.04, copy/cut paste has become unusable.

every time you have to copy twice to get it work. Although when u do copy/cut paste for the first time after opening application it works fine.

Also copy paste from native applications to wine works fine all the time.

Further the application is less stable on Ubuntu 20.04. It hangs every now and then whereas on ubuntu 18.04 it was rock solid
