Bug Description

Binary package hint: wine

installation Ubuntu 8.04 i386 20080119

Wine doesn't display icon in the control buttons in Audacity portable 1.2.6

I run PortableApps on an USB Key. (www.portableapps.com)
I called the portableapps menu from within wine.
The applications run smoothly.

I called Audacity Portable, the top horizontal menu (imitation of cassette player)
displays dark grey squares. The images used to discribe the buttons disapeared.

For Audacity 1.2.6 run under Wine, there are no icons on the control buttons of the main window, rendering the interface unusable.

It still happens on 1.0.0, both on Hardy and current Intrepid. But the bug seems to be fixed in the current development version (1.1.5) of Wine.
I will check again as soon as 1.1.x/1.2 enters Ubuntu's repositories.
For the time being, the bug is still there in Ubuntu.

I assigned you to this bug, Scott, since in bug #203225 you said you are assigning bugs to you that rely on a newer Wine version to be released.

Hello folks,

adding stable download via Internet Archive for documentation.

https://web.archive.org/web/20110711111842/http://audacity.googlecode.com/files/audacity-win-1.2.6.exe

$ sha1sum audacity-win-1.2.6.exe
e2eb75ff817281dd8e21a3933ec0ebab9d0cd712 audacity-win-1.2.6.exe

$ du -sh audacity-win-1.2.6.exe
2.2M audacity-win-1.2.6.exe

The audacity project hosting at sourceforge.net is another example to never trust those services. This includes github (assets) as well.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/audacity/

--- quote ---
Audacity is no longer at SourceForge.

Audacity can be downloaded via AudacityTeam website instead: http://www.audacityteam.org/download/
--- quote ---

old: https://sourceforge.net/projects/audacity/files/ (gone)
new: https://www.audacityteam.org/download/ (pre 2.x releases cut off)

During project migration they dropped most older versions. If no third-party mirrors and/or archive.org snapshots exist those old releases are gone.

Always create snapshots immediately if none exists, regardless if it's old or new software. archive.org might be gone one day as well (like all things) but it's the best thing we currently have.
