Bug Description

This is actually a problem I had on Gutsy as well.
Only very simple apps (like texteditors, no running graphics) works in wine versions later than 0.9.46.
Games like ElastaMania worked in 0.9.46 (the one provided in the official gutsy repo.)

When upgrading to a newer version of wine (curr. 0.9.53) the problems occurs

Since it seems to be a graphics problem I upgraded to Hardy to try with the newest version of graphics drivers and X.org.

My system specs.

Linux jesper-laptop 2.6.24-3-generic #1 SMP Thu Jan 3 22:50:33 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Ubuntu Hardy
Intel 965 grapics chip, with the xserver-xorg-video-intel driver installed.

With the xserver-xgl package installed the terminal displays the info attached in the file
Without the package, X just restarts (like hitting ctrl+alt+backspace)

WINE can't make X crash! This is emphasized by WINE developers all the time. It's the graphics driver.

Same issue happened to me... I upgraded to Hardy from Gutsy hoping it'd be fixed -- it's not.

However, I found that installing Crossover and running your Windows Apps with Crossover works, but will reboot X if run with WINE.

As I am not playing Games under Wine/Crossover, I decided to post my comment here.

I am on Gutsy 7.10 and using the latest official intel driver (Intel 82852/855GM) from the repos. I have crossover-office installed, so I can't comment about Wine-package (it's still wine under the hood though).

The Problem is, that when I start MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and keep them running for a while, like working :), my X Server gets suddenly restarted without any reason.
I am running also Compiz Fusion, if that's could be related.
The weird thing is, that I can't see any errors in the message-logs.

Same here on Ubuntu Gutsy and now also in Hardy with intel X3000 graphics.
wine Direct3D apps crash X and I have to relogin.
What can I do to help fixing this problem?
