Bug Description

My webbrowser-app has stopped working. I went to use it, and wanted to access my History, as all tabs had disappeared that had previously been open.

Then webbrowser-app froze, and I had to close it. I tried to reopen, but as soon as I do, it crashes, closes right away. I tried rebooting the phone, but that did not help. Nothing else was running at the time it froze. Even after another reboot, I have not been able to open the web browser. Web apps, like Facebook, still work okay with no problems.

So how would I fix this? Is there a file to delete or edit in the filesystem? I have searched online already and found no answer.

You could try moving the files under /home/phablet/.local/share/webbrowser-app/ out of the way, one by one, until you find the corrupted one. When you do find it, I’m interested in knowing which file it was, and if it doesn’t contain sensitive data I’d like to inspect it, so please keep copies of the files.

Does the log file (/home/phablet/.cache/upstart/application-legacy-webbrowser-app-.log) contain any useful info?

I tried renaming files in /home/phablet/.local/share/webbrowser-app/ but nothing made any difference, the web browser still did not work.

I looked for /home/phablet/.cache/upstart/application-legacy-webbrowser-app-.log
but could not find any such file.

Today I also have a problem with accessing websites from webapps, e.g.
Facebook. It used to be that a link would open a website in the webapp, but
now it gives a blank window. There is no option to cancel or go back to the
webapp, it is frozen.

Only way out is to close webapp.

And, as already reported, text messaging also closes when opening. Now
photo gallery (“Events”) also crashes on opening.

I mention these because I think they must be related.

Either a bug in Ubuntu phone, or corrupted files somewhere, or maybe even a
hardware fault? It's a BQ Aquarius E45. purcc

The reopen failure is bug 1656252.
But see also bug 1590561.

This bug is a duplicate of at least one of those :)
