Bug Description

I just installed VLC via the Ubuntu Software Center, but when I try to search for it in the dash its not being found. I tried "vlc", "VLC", "lan" or "video". Also the Media section does not seem to list it as an installed application. Starting vlc via xterm works fine though.

What are we supposed to do? Is this a duplicate of the desktop file keyword bug that is queued for 2.0.1?

I can't reproduce it on Ubuntu 12.04 (precise). I can find VLC in the dash by typing "vlc" or "VLC". It is also listed in the Media section.

With the upcoming 2.0.1 release even "video" should work (see bug #943014).

@Rémi: There is nothing to do for upstream VLC.
