Bug Description
Binary package hint: vlc
Ubuntu 11.04
VLC: 1.1.9-1ubuntu1.1
I'm playing a 350 MB XviD with the resolution 576x320px on a screen with a resolution of 1280x1024px. One thing to notice is that vlc is maximized in unity by default (not fullscreen).
The problem becomes when pausing the video and leaving the video on. VLC then allocates a lot of memory and leaving it on too long will fill the memory and then the swap will start to fill aswell.
Reproduce:
---
1. Open video.
2. Let it play and buffer.
3. Pause.
4. Let it stay on for a few hours (or over the night).
5. The memory imprint is now huge.
