Bug Description
Binary package hint: vlc
VLC 1.1 does originally (the source code) support VDPAU.
It must, however, be compiled to do so (against libva1).
Likewise, the dependant packages FFMPEG (4:0.6) must also be VDPAU-enabled and compiled against libva1.
Now, mavericks VLC (1.1.0-4ubuntu1) is not compiled against libva1 and does not support the experimental GPU acceleration.
There is no dependency to the package libva1 (in vlc-nox).
There is one PPA, where one may install the VDPAU-enabled VLC: Cutting edge multimedia of Brandon Snider, but only VLC for lucid is available (1.2.0-git20100715) at the moment.
Please recompile VLC in maverick to support VDPAU.
