2009-08-30 13:51:41 rusivi2 description Binary package hint: mozilla-plugin-vlc 1) sudo lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 9.04 Release: 9.04 2) sudo apt-cache policy mozilla-plugin-vlc mozilla-plugin-vlc: Installed: 0.9.9a-2ubuntu1 Candidate: 0.9.9a-2ubuntu1 Version table: *** 0.9.9a-2ubuntu1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/multiverse Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 3) What did you expect to happen? Using Mozilla Firefox, I wanted Bloomberg.com video pop-up to play with video and audio in-sync, good quality, and without delay or choppyness. 4) What happened instead? After a fresh Ubuntu 9.04 install, full updates, Medibuntu repository added (no Medibuntu packages added), was using Mozilla Firefox, clicked on video at www.bloomberg.com entitled, "TrimTab's Charles Biderman Says Stocks Are 'overpriced'", whose video location is: http://www.bloomberg.com/avp/avp.htm?N=av&T=TrimTabs%27s%20Charles%20Biderman%20Says%20Stocks%20Are%20%60Overpriced%27&clipSRC=mms://media2.bloomberg.com/cache/vfuYySELQZeo.asf The pop-up had a black screen where the video should play (looked like totem) and then stated how it needed to find the right plugin. I installed via Synaptic Package Manager mozilla-plugin-vlc, accepting all default recommended installs as presented. Restarted Firefox, launched link above, 1 minute delay while pop-up stated, "Waiting for video". The video began but it was zoomed into the video seemingly 175% or normal view. Both video and audio were clear, in-sync, and not choppy. After 5 seconds, the OS locked up, could not move mouse, red vertical lines were drawn on the top panel.
