Bug Description

Hi,

I'm running Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex Alpha6 with all the latest updates, I have an Intel GMAX3100 graphics card on my laptop, the bug occurs every time I play a movie with vlc or mplayer: brightness resets to 0. This happened also in Hardy Heron but an update removed the issue. Now it's back in Intrepid. The strange thing is that it doesn't happen with totem-gstreamer or xine-ui, but it does in gxine. If you need more info I'll give you anything you ask.

Thanks
vervelover

i have a (i quote from lspci | grep VGA ) :
Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)
when i use mplayer or vlc (NOT XINE OR TOTEM) the brightness is set to a lower level.

Hi, thanks for reporting this bug.

Is this still an issue in Intrepid stable?
I just tried this with my GM965/GL960, but was unable to reproduce.

I reported the issue to the intel bug tracker, some guys are helping. I switched to Hardy, but the issue was still there on Intrepid stable, but I switched to Hardy so I don't know if some update has solved it.

this is my lspci | grep VGA:

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)

Ok, I upgraded to Intrepid, the bug is still there, even with the proposed intel driver update.

It's Intel's bugzilla they will work on this harder if they see that many people has this issue!

Ok, thanks to the bugzilla report now I have a workaround: just add the line

Option "DPMS" "false"

in the monitor section of your xorg.conf. It works!
