vlc is crashing on DVD media; lubuntu lunar

Lubuntu lunar install with these commands run
- sudo apt install libdvd-pkg
- sudo dpkg-reconfigure libdvd-pkg
- sudo apt install libdvdnav4 libdvdread8 gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad gstreamer1.0-plugins-ugly

I also installed MPV which happily plays my test DVD now (Dead Bang movie), however VLC is just crashing.

Prior to the addition of those packages, VLC would NOT crash but didn't start the movie DVD
