Since there're apparently no debugging symbols for `vlc` (see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vlc/+bug/1568469) a backtrace can't be provided.

-dbgsym packages are available for all vlc binary packages. This issue is missing a backtrace.
