vlc does not play files

Bug Description

vlc does not play some files (some days ago, i could play them),it shows:
VLC media player 2.1.5 Rincewind (revision 2.1.2+git20140426+r54526+18+11~ubuntu14.04.1)

why can not it play ,it could play the other day

Also affected - plays mp4's ok, wmv's crash. Here's a backtrace:

Hello I can also report that I am affected version 2.1.5 rincewind,
it seems that the problem appears with some kind of network streams.

@Nick you need to install debug symbols to get a proper backtrace, installing package "vlc-dbg" should do it, if it does not have the symbols for libavcodec then follow instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash to enable the ddebs repository and install the dbgsym package for that library.
