Bug Description
VisualVM Version: 1.3.3-0ubuntu1
Using VisualVM from quantal-proposed does not work if you have both JDK6 and JRE7 installed.
The tool will complain that you are using a JRE (and not a JDK) and refuse to start.
Having both JRE7 and JDK6 is a legitimate use case, as some tools depend on JRE7 (eg. Freemind), but Java 7 is not source compatible with Java6, nor is generated bytecode.
So doing java 6 dev work and using Freemind implies having both JRE7 and JDK6. Openjdk packaging allows such a settup.
VisualVM should work in this case.
