virtualbox kernel drivers not loaded after upgrade

Virtualbox does not automatically update vboxdrv after kernel upgrade even though installed from repo and dkms installed as well.

This is a reoccurance of bug #1580336.

Sorry, was not fixed.

can you please try modprobe vboxdrv?

and post also the output of dpkg-reconfigure virtualbox-dkms

tried modprobe vboxdrv (as mentioned in the error dialog) but didn't work.
dpkg-reconfigure virtualbox-dkms claims to recompile (I don't have the output ready right now) but does not do it.
I work around this by reinstalling virtualbox.
(strangely enough it does a configuration there and this works)

Can't provide logs without a kernel update.
I will provide the logs next time a new kernel arrives.
(If I have resolved the issue and reinstall the kernel - uninstall first - the issue does not occur as the drivers are already available)

You might want to try some kernels from here
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/

just avoid yakkety kernels, because they are too new to build with your version :)

I currently run Ubuntu 16.10 after a fresh reinstall. Vbox runs fine.
