I did another fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04.3 Desktop 64-bit (In VirtualBox 4.2.16r86992 on Windows 8 Pro) and this time waited for the Additional Drivers dialog to appear. It offered to install x86 virtualization solution - guest addition module source for dkms. This also failed with same error.
