Steps to repeat:

Install or reinstall the virtualbox-guest-dkms package using the Synaptic Package Manager, Update manager or from the command line using apt-get (on an Ubuntu 12.04 machine running the 3.8.0-27-generic kernel).

It is expected that the module will install however the following error message is shown instead:
