2011-11-24 14:07:35 Gonçalo Gomes description While suspending a guest, if the suspend image fails to be saved because of insufficient space, the guest is left in irrecoverable state and must therefore be powered down the hardway. ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: virtualbox-ose 3.2.8-dfsg-2ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-30.59-generic-pae 2.6.35.13 Uname: Linux 2.6.35-30-generic-pae i686 NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx Architecture: i386 Date: Thu Nov 24 13:03:10 2011 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS "Lucid Lynx" - Release i386 (20100816.1) ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: virtualbox-ose While suspending a guest, if the suspend image fails to be saved because of insufficient space, the guest is left in irrecoverable state and must therefore be powered down the hardway. Note though, that I don't expect it to be able to suspend when the FS doesn't have enough capacity to store the image. I do expect it not to become irrecoverable (e.g, you can't go back into the guest and ask it to shutdown cleanly or perhaps just leave the guest running while you are able to free some space from the filesystem.) I don't expect it to be able to suspend when the FS doesn't have enough capacity to store the image. I do expect VirtualBox not to become irrecoverable (e.g, you can't go back into the guest and ask it to shutdown cleanly via, say, guest OS shutdown commands or perhaps just leave the guest running while you are working away to free the space from the filesystem so that you can retry suspending the guest (aka "Saving state to disk".)
