Had done a full uninstallation of virtualbox about 6 months ago. Am just re-installing it again for the first time and it seems to have installed fine but the dkms piece of it fails because it says the dkms.conf template values in the build folder it looked to have everything. But when I looked at the source folder, that folder was a symlink that pointed to a non-existant directory. Is there a missing dependency that didn't get picked up maybe? The /var/lib/dkms/vboxnetflt/2.1.0/source symlinks to /usr/src/vboxnetflt-2.1.0 which does not actually exist on the system. That is probably the real reason for the failure.
