Bug Description

Binary package hint: virtualbox-ose

Because Usb is an essential feature, and on the non-opensource version it is very difficult to make it working, I think that it could be good to make usb opensource and better on virtualbox.

USB is unsupported on the OSE of VirtualBox. For USB support you can use the personal edition or buy the full featured edition.

I guess theoretically someone could fork the GPL opensource edition or write their own kernel module for VirtualBox.

Because the upstream developers, innotek will not support USB on OSE I'm marking this bug as invalid.

Changed in virtualbox-ose:
status: New → Invalid
assignee: nobody → wfpearson

You "just" need to re-add the support for /proc/bus/usb/* (see http://virtualbox.org/wiki/User_FAQ) to make USB work for non-OSE virtualbox.
I agree that this is not very user friendly, but not "very difficult".
