Bug Description

Ubuntu 13.04 Raring amd64

$ apt-cache policy virt-manager
virt-manager:
  Installed: 0.9.4-2ubuntu3
  Candidate: 0.9.4-2ubuntu3
  Version table:
 *** 0.9.4-2ubuntu3 0
        500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Working with the local system QEMU/KVM hypervisor, when cloning a domain and editing the Networking hardware MAC address ("Details..." button leading to "Change MAC Address" dialog) the "New MAC" setting is ignored and the resulting clone gets issued with a random MAC address.

This is not helpful when working with short-lived clones that are used in iterative guest testing scenarios.

The solution is to manually fix-up the MAC using:

$ virsh edit <cloned-domain>
