Bug Description

Binary package hint: vino

Changing the port to which the vnc server vino listens has no effect. Vino sticks to port 5900.

sudo gconf-editor
select tree folder: desktop -> gnome -> remote_access
change key "alternative_port" to 5902
change key "use_alternative_port" to boolean true
log off & on or restarting the system

Server still listens on 5900 - not on 5902.

vino 2.28.2-0ubuntu2 / ubuntu 10.04

There was two issues for me.

One, I did sudo gconf-editor.... This edits the wrong gconf files. You should run this with the user that starts vino.
The second I used a port below 5000 which vino doesn't support. It supports 5000 < port < 50000 if I remember correctly.

Thanks,
Anders

that's not bug,

gconf-editor
desktop -> gnome -> remote_access
change key "alternative_port" to 5901 (5000 < port < 50000)
change key "use_alternative_port" to boolean true
log off & on (restarting the system does't required)

have fun)
