Bug Description

Binary package hint: vino

Enabled "Remote Desktop" via System >> Preferences. VNC clients can connect (have tried several) and see initial screen matching the Ubuntu desktop but no further changes are sent to client, Can't see cursor move using mouse on client so can't interact. If you make a change using the local mouse and changes to the desktop (new app window opens, etc.) are not reflected to the client, it still shows the screen as it was when first connected.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: amd64
Date: Wed Oct 7 17:12:15 2009
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10
NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia
Package: vino 2.28.0-1ubuntu1
ProcEnviron:
 LANG=en_US.UTF-8
 SHELL=/bin/bash
ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-11.38-generic
SourcePackage: vino
Uname: Linux 2.6.31-11-generic x86_64

I have the same issue as well. I have done a complete wipe and reinstall of 9.10 and still no luck. There are bug solutions out there that state that by turning off desktop effects that will fix the refresh on the vnc. That is not the case with my install. I have all desktop effects turned off and I'm still having the same problem. Item to note, I am running the restricted driver from nvidia. I was really hoping that this was resolved by now, but I have not had a functional vnc since Hardy.

did you make sure the effects were turned off on the server side not
the client?
