In ~/.xsession-errors found error:
(vino-server:8915): EggSMClient-CRITICAL **: egg_sm_client_set_mode: assertion `global_client == NULL || global_client_mode == EGG_SM_CLIENT_MODE_DISABLED' failed

I see the exact same problem on a 12.04 system:

$ lsb_release -rd

Description: Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS
Release: 12.04

$ apt-cache policy vino
vino:
