Feature request for vino-preferences and Vinagre
The remote desktop application needs to have a quality preference (low quality, less colors, more compression) to allow fast remote access through the Internet.

My opinion is that krdc does a much better job as a vnc client than vinagre. It allows you to connect to a vino server using compression (High Medium Low Bandwidth setting option is presented when connecting). It also allows you to use your local mouse cursor (assisted by an on-screen dot) which makes the task of remote desktop much easier.
