Bug Description

When connected to another machine (hardy was tested, Remote desktop enabled), CPU usage jumps to 90 - 100% on machine viewing machine running vinagre.

Machine is: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam/FujitsuAmiloLi1818

CPU usage in vinagre is fine until the connection is established and the remote desktop is being drawn. This did not happen but was OK under gutsy with tsclient, but in hardy VNC support has been pulled by default.

More information about this problem :

When I connect vinagre to x11vnc, no problem.
When I connect vinagre to vino, the CPU usage is very high.

It's seems to be a problem between vinagre and vino.

I'm using hardy.

I've suffered from this too. Perhaps it's a dupe of bug 203782?

Changed in vinagre:
importance: Undecided → Medium
status: New → Incomplete

I've seen this too, with vinagre and xvncviewer. Doesn't happen with krdc, though.

This seems similar to this bug report: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=494059 . Which would explain the different krdc behavior (because that viewer does not show the cursor, while vinagre and xvncviewer do).

That fix was applied in Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty) - is this still occuring for anyone?

I'm using archlinux, updated up today, gnome 2.30 and problem still happening.

the server is a vnc using debian 5 and a windows with ultravnc. connecting to any of them will produce a cpu usage of at least 80%.

Also using an ubuntu 9.10 notebook shows the same problem, connecting to a debian 5 box and a windows box with ultravnc

I was surprised after switching from vinagre to vncviewer!
On vinagre very high cpu load, but on vncviewer about 10-20%
(vncviewer -bgr233 -compresslevel 9 -quality 1 -encodings "tight"). remote vnc server - VINO.

ubuntu 10.04.3

Still a problem on 14.04 using MATE desktop on HP d330, CPU usage is 75%. I know its an old machine but I maintain 24 of them for disadvantaged members of society.
