Bug Description

Launched vinagre as follows:
vinagre -f --vnc-scale <host>

Comes up fine. If you move mouse pointer to top middle, the Viewer menu fails to appear (there is flickering, but no menu).

If launched with keep-aspect-ratio, it works fine - only goes wrong when has been scaled to full height vertically (i.e. no keep-aspect-ratio).

Ubuntu 15.10, software up-to-date.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers of the software by following the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

Here are a couple of workarounds:

From the View menu in vinagre, enable "Keyboard Shortcuts". The F11 key will now toggle in and out of full screne mode. This had the disadvantage that some keystrokes or keystroke combinations aren't passed on to the remote desktop, which is usually the desired behavior

Hover your mouse pointer a few pixels below the top of the screen and move it slowly left and right over the area where the menu usually appears. Tooltips will pop out belonging to the buttons which should be displayed. Left-click when you see "Leave fullscreen".

Hello,
I have the same bug. I noticed that when I hover around the top of the screen, my mouse changes shape (I use VNC to connect to my Raspberry Pi). To be precise - when in "captured" mode where I can click around my raspberry it is in shape of a cross, while when hovering over a middle it changes to normal arrow I use on my Xubuntu.
I assumed that arrow shape indicates that I am hovering over window controls so I started clicking at random. It turns out that there are buttons, and that exit full screen is the first button from left. They just are not showing.

I hope this will help to find the bug.

Deploying vinagre under Xubuntu 17.04 zesty with KERNEL=4.10.0-28-generic we setup so keystroke combinations are passed on to the remote desktop so F11 is disabled locally. The alternative pop up tooltips when hovering mouse at top centre of the screen does not appear. We see no cursor change of shape during the hover.

The above message may be associated with lack of fullscreen exit mouse hover.

I have the same issue on 16.04 LTS. None of the workarounds described here work. Once you're in full screen mode there is no way out.

i'm just trying out vinagre on my pixel book, connecting to ubuntu 18.04. I get the same thing. I can go into fullscreen (without disabling keyboard shortcuts) and once in... i can't get out. I have to kill the window in order to start over. Hovering over the top area does nothing. The button dropdown never appears.
