vim-gnome causes errors in scripts that work on other variants

Bug Description
Using neocomplcache as a script I get the following errors when using vim-gnome
Error detected while processing function <SNR>63_
line 1:
E716: Key not present in Dictionary: strchars, a:000)

E116: Invalid arguments for function call(s:V.strchars, a:000)

It is important to note that these errors do not happen with other vim variants on ubuntu, also the error doesn't appear to happen on gnome variants on other distributions.
