using up/down/right/left arrow in insert (i) mode wont works

Bug Description

I cant use up/down/right/left arrow key on my Toshiba Tecra M1 when im using vim on running Edgy, the key will change automatically with char A,B,C and D

I doubt this has anything to do with xserver. Guessing correct package.

I have the same problem, vim seems to be starting in vi-compatible mode and that causes it.

After reading a bit, it looks like on dapper "set nocompatible" is in the /etc/vim/vimrc file. However on edgy, this line was moved to /usr/share/vim/vim70/debian.vim which is supposed to be included from /etc/vim/vimrc, but this seems to be not working for some reason.

Hmm.. apparently this is happening because by default on edgy vim-tiny is installed instead of vim-full. vim-tiny, when run as vi, turns on compatible mode, but vim-full does not.

yupe, i just installed vim-full and override it, now the vi editor works perfectly
