Bug Description

Binary package hint: vim-gnome (vim-gnome Version: 2:7.2.330-1ubuntu3 under Ubuntu 10.04)

The vim clipboard contents rigister "+" doesn't work properly.

When I copy some lines to rigiter "+" in vim (eg. "+yy), and then paste the clipboard contents to other gnome text input window, I get nothing in the text input window!

After yanking to "+, does :echo @+ show the yanked lines?

Yes. " :echo @+ " shows the yanked line. And I can copy the content of
rigister "+" to other place in vim.

But the bug still existed. Nothing could be copyed out from vim.

Both "*yy and "+yy don't work for me.

This is despite the fact that vim --version shows that vim is compiled with +xterm_clipboard. Strange.

Clipboard does work with vim.gtk, but not with vim.gnome.

Also using the middle mouse button to copy&paste from vim to another application does not work for me (both vim-gtk and vim-gnome).

I see that with 'vim' package installed in Lucid Lynx doesn't have 'clipboard' and 'xterm_clipboard' enabled.

In my opinion it doesn't make sense because there's also 'vim-tiny'and 'vim-nox' for people that don't want clipboard (or other features) enabled. Maybe there's a strong argument against my opinion and I would comprehend, but maybe it would be wise enable clipboard support in the 'vim' package.

Below it goes some data for your appreciation.

Right, but he's saying (and I agree) that default Vim should have +clipboard.
