Bug Description

Base system -
Vista 64bit 6.0.6002 SP2
quad core AMD procs
4GB ram
Running VMPlayer 2.5.3 build 185404

Steps to reproduce
1. from a fresh vm install server 9.04 and patch to latest updates/upgrades
2. install the vmtools using ubuntu904vmtools.sh
2. install update-manager-core
3. edit /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades set Prompt=normal
4. sudo do-release-upgrade -d; use all the defaults
5. path and update to latest release versions
6. install apache sudo apt-get install apache2
7. launch sudo vi /etc/apache2/conf.d/fqdn

Response was that ever 2-3 keystrokes were being completely dropped by the system.
So when I typed:
ServerName localhost became
Svralcls

Is it only vi that has this behavior, or is it every editor and all keyboard input?

affects: ubuntu → vim (Ubuntu)

No!
Command line is fine! Only happened after doing the upgrade.
Rebooted system and tried again
Same effect
