Bug Description

Binary package hint: vim

Linux menzoberranzan 2.6.28-11-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 17 01:58:03 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux

No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 9.04
Release: 9.04
Codename: jaunty

When full desktop effects are enabled - there are artifacts in gvim
gvim does not render all text - i get large blocks of text that is blank and if i page-up /down a couple of times i can see it. I tested by removing the .vim directory and .vimrc, .gvimrc and .viminfo files

This happens on source code text files and its not that specific portions of text are not showing... it is random... sometimes the blank portions become visible by themselves after a second or two.. other times i have to do tricks like page up/down, highlight, etc and then the text starts showing up

However, if I disable desktop effects, then these problems go away

Enabling "Force synchronization between X and GLX" option which can be found in the "Workarounds" section of the CompizConfig Settings Manager fixed this major annoyance for me. I haven't thoroughly tested it yet, though.
