Bug Description

When I try to launch Verbiste, a window opens with the following message: "Verbiste: could not parse /usr/share/verbiste-0.1/conjugation-fr.xml". Here are the results of the command line:
$ verbiste
I/O warning : failed to load external entity "/usr/share/verbiste-0.1/conjugation-fr.xml"

I use Ubuntu 15.10 Willy Werewolf 64 bits and I didn't have this issue with my previous OS, Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet 32 bits.

I found the cause. Apparently, verbiste is not a dependency of verbiste-gnome anymore. So, when you try to install Verbiste through the Ubuntu Software Center, you end up with a broken installation.

Thanks for reporting.

You are correct, the missing dependency is the problem. I've found a corresponding Debian bug on this, see the attached bug watch. The good news is that this has been fixed in Debian, and the fix has also been synced to Ubuntu Xenial.

I've tested with verbiste-gnome 0.1.42-2 in Ubuntu Xenial and it pulls in verbiste as expected and opens a window without any error messages when attempting to run the application.

The patch which re-adds the dependency is very small (https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/verbiste.git/commit/?id=5a8eb160bdf049d13cec7ed5a6559b365cdfc4e4). I think it should be rather straight-forward to get a fix into Ubuntu 15.10 through a Stable Release Update [1]. (I can probably help prepare a patch for the updated package, but I have to warn you I will be rather busy the next few weeks.)
