The crash occured after resuming my notebook from suspend-to-ram.
The notebook is a Wortmann Terra Aura 8300, which is nearly identical to the ASUS z71v.
The GPU is a NVIDIA GeForce Go 6600

im having the exact same failure with an asus z70vp...

it worked in edgy.

I can repeat this failure consistently when resuming from suspend with desktop effects enabled.

the mouse pointer returns and functions correctly, icon changes according items on the screen that should be displaying, but the display is a black screen.
suspend works correctly when desktop effects are not enabled.

asus z71vp nvidia geforce 6600 go, feisty beta, with all updates to-date.
