Bug Description

Binary package hint: util-linux

Device mapper devices, such as LVM and dmraid devices, have a '-' in the name. If you mount /dev/dm-7 somewhere, then try to umount /dev/dm-7, it fails saying that is not mounted. This seems to be because umount is confused by the '-' character and so fails to translate the device name to the mount point when calling umount(). Manually editing /etc/mtab and removing the '-' allows umount /dev/dm7 to succeed.

This bug was found as a contributing cause in bug #725408
