system fails to recognise disk

Bug Description

Binary package hint: util-linux

after upgrade,
system is unable to find the disk connected to ata2.
It's a 120GB IDE disk, connected to SATA connector with an Abit SATA-IDE convertor.

10.10 reached end of life some time ago, are you still having this problem on 12.04+?
