Error splicing file

Bug Description

I've a trouble in transfering a large file (4.8Gb) from my HD to an external HD in sharing with Win too.
The external HD is NTFS formatted for compatibility with WIN

If I move/copy the file from WIN10 environment, the process is completed correctly.
If I move/copy the file from Ubuntu 16.04 LTS environment, I have the error:

 Error splicing file: File too large

System configuration:

 Intel® Core™ i7-3770K CPU @ 3.50GHz × 8
 RAM 32Gb
 Graphics Quadro 600
 OS type 64-bit

External HD Packard Bell 1Tb Graffite model, NTFS format

What is the exact command you are using to copy?

Nothing special Phillp, a conventional copy and past. I've also done a "cp" command from terminal, but unsuccessfully. Do you have special suggestions?

Can you try the cp command and paste the exact output here, as well as run dmesg afterwards and see if there are any errors?
