package uuid-runtime 2.25.2-4ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

This happened after what appeared to be a weird crash that caused major issues. On boot both of the screens were flashing on (black screen) and off (like in sleep mode/computer powered off). I took the computer to a smaller station with wired Ethernet, and only one monitor. After moving to this new location I tried in vein to access the recovery mode. Then I put the Ubuntu 15.04 installer onto a flash-drive from a laptop and ran a reinstall in place. After that it still would not boot. I was able to get to the recovery mode. In recovery mode I enabled networking and then ran the option to fix packages. It said that kernal modules were failing to load. I then restarted into recovery-mode, enabled networking, then ran a dpkg --configure -a, an apt-get update, and an apt-get upgrade. That is when the package started to surface as a potential culprit. After that it was able to boot into Gnome. I am now moving my files off with the intention of performing a clean install.

It looks like you have a way deeper problem than "just" uuid-runtime. For some reason booting never finished, and it's actually quite a miracle that you can log in at all. Or something in the upgrade restarted systemd/sysinit.target/something similar which is stuck (this is much more likely). After this happens, please do "sudo journalctl -b > /tmp/journal.txt" and attach /tmp/journal.txt here. Thanks!

At first sight there is something wrong with dbus -- is the dbus package properly installed and running?

At this point it must be because I reformatted the machine immediately
after I got all of my data off of the hard drive. Sadly I cannot access it
right now.
