This is after a migration 10.04 -> 12.04.1 and I've got something similar here:

$ sudo apt-get install uswsusp
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done

Setting up uswsusp (1.0+20110509-2ubuntu1) ...
dpkg: error processing uswsusp (--configure):
 subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 128
Errors were encountered while processing:
 uswsusp

E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

The upgrade process should do better error reporting here. What's 'status 128'? And who actually gave that exit status?

I'm unconfirming this.

The postscript process error reporting is indeed not very useful, but what I'm seeing is possibly something different. I've reported it in bug #1044128
