Bug Description

Binary package hint: uswsusp

Kernel hibernate works fine. I installed uswsusp and changed /etc/pm/config.d/00sleep_module to use it, but upon reboot the message is always "No resume image," and boot proceeds normally.

$ uname -a
Linux mcbain 2.6.27-10-generic #1 SMP Fri Nov 21 12:00:22 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux

I have the same problem with a 2.6.28-11-generic kernel on a HP OmniBook 500 running kubuntu 9.04.

Maybe the following discussion is helpful to someone:
https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-general-1/s2disk-and-resume-with-kernel-2.6.19-510349/
Possibly the kernel lacks some compile-time options?

I upgraded to 2.6.28-15-generic.
The message "kinit: No resume image, doing normal boot..." still appears, but the image is loaded anyway.
Sometimes the resume process completes successfully, sometimes it doesn't - but that's a different story/bug.

Can this bug be closed then?

Just found this line in the man page for s2disk: "You will need to set up an initramfs which calls the resume program for this to work." So maybe the initrd wasn't set up correctly?
