Bug Description
This happens (and has always happened for me) on up to date Ubuntu Edgy.
This is entirely a UI thing, but it's definitely a very ugly UI thing.
When I enter Hibernate mode, no splash screen appears. I am just dumped to a blank terminal... eventually the computer does its clicky shutting down stuff and the terminal says it's powering off (I have to hit the power button manually for some reason).
Okay, that's not too bad. A bit ugly, but meh.
The real problem comes when I am starting back up!
The usplash comes up as usual, but soon the progress bar is obscured by a giant white box (not fitting into the progress thing, but it goes around that place) and later the top half of the screen is filled with garbled green stuff.
It does start up in the end, and I am greeted rather quickly by a nice login window against a black background. Very ugly beforehand, of course, and disconcerting for anyone easily worried by computers.
Curiously, this makes 3 graphics glitches for me:
I have a hunch that Bug #66652 is related to this one. If you want a description of what my "garbled green stuff" looks like, it is exactly like in that bug.
I also get bug #67443, which is probably unrelated... but it could be :)
I am running a very old Compaq Presario with an embedded Intel i810 graphics card and a Celeron <500 mHz processor.
The uSplash looks fine normally.
